Introducing Uma.
This is a very happy thing: Parliament on King have a second space, for a brand-new restaurant takeaway; it’s at Darling Square inside that beautiful Kengo Kuma ‘birds nest building’, and it’s called Uma and it’s a curry and roti house.
As Parliament on King always have, we work with refugee and asylum seeker chefs, who make dishes from their homelands, like they would for friends and family. The Food is made with love and offered with kindness.
At Uma, the focus shifts to dishes from our Burmese, Pakistani, Bangladeshi and Srilankan chefs.
Uma is a beautiful way to grow what we do, to offer more work to our lovely refugee and asylum seeker friends, to build bridges or friendship and understanding, to create opportunity and belonging.
Uma, like Parliament on King, is a social enterprise, driven by mission and purpose.
Uma is a work of love, in the belief that the better kinder world we all want is possible, here, and now.
We hope you can visit us in our new space, we will make you feel welcome, and it would be nice to see you.
Thank you.
Ravi on behalf of all of us at Uma and Parliament on King.
We acknowledge the traditional owners and custodian upon which both Uma and Parliament on King stands, the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation, and their elders past present and emerging.
